10 Facts about Electronic Cigarettes (Part Two)

We’ve already taken a look at the first five facts in our series… It’s now time for part two. With more and more people opting to use electronic cigarettes in a bid to be healthier, richer and sweeter-smelling, maybe it’s time for you to learn the facts before you jump on the bandwagon. These are the vital things you’ll need to know.

5 – The electronic cigarette industry racked up a whopping $1.7 billion this year alone. These statistics were printed by the New York Times and if they are saying it, there must be some truth to it. If THAT many people are using e-cigarettes, they can’t be as bad as they look… Maybe there is some truth to the fact that they can even help you to quit smoking?

Although studies are ongoing when it comes to the topic of electronic cigarettes, $1.7 billion can’t be wrong… #JustSayin

4 – They DO contain some of the bad stuff… We do need to put things in perspective here. When you smoke a “real” cigarette you are inhaling over TEN THOUSAND chemicals. Say that out loud – TEN THOUSAND. Out of this whopping number, there are AT LEAST forty known carcinogens. These carcinogens are the things that can cause cancer and make you very sick. The amounts of these chemicals that were found in electronic cigarettes was so slight, it was known to be of “trace” quantity. Basically – real cigarettes are probably going to kill you. Electronic cigarettes probably won’t. The risks with e-cigarettes are just 1% when compared to real smokes.

3 – Studies have also been performed which have shown a DEFINITE improvement of overall health after making the switch from “real” cigarettes to their electronic counterparts. In over ninety percent of e-cigarette users, they found their health to be much better generally. They found they had better sleeping patterns, they could breathe much more easily, they had more energy, they had better taste and smell senses… This list could go on for some time. There are ACTUAL health benefits and these have been proven by scientists.

2 – “Vaping” really is like smoking! Believe it or not, smoking an electronic cigarette is basically like smoking a real cigarette. You inhale on the filter end (cartridge) of the e-cig, you get the throat hit that you would normally get with a real cigarette (if you get a decent e-cig), and when you exhale, real “smoke” comes out of your mouth! It’s really vapour but it feels just as good as the real thing. It’s not EXACTLY the same but to be fair, it’s probably the closest you’re ever going to get so you might as well make the most of it!

1 – You CAN quit with electronic cigarettes. Don’t get us wrong, we aren’t saying you won’t notice that you aren’t smoking anymore but, for the most part, quitting smoking with the assistance of an electronic cigarette was a pleasant experience. You don’t suffer with those nicotine withdrawals that you come to associate with not smoking. You reduce your nicotine content gradually so you barely sense the change. The first time I personally quit smoking with electronic cigarettes, I went down a nicotine level every month and it took me about six months to manage to quit the e-cigarettes completely. You can take as long as you need to – my friend took a year to quit smoking with e-cigs. Another of my friends has been using the electronic cigarette for two years so far and has no intentions of giving up. It’s what you make of it but in the long run, you can see there are many benefits.
